Important Update: Windows 10 End of Life
Sep 18, 2024 | Tips
According to Microsoft, Windows 10 will reach its end of life in October 2025 and will no longer be supported. While your computer will continue to operate, it will not receive security updates, which may leave your system vulnerable to potential threats.
For organizations that are required to comply with PCI or HIPAA regulations, or that handle sensitive personal information, it is essential to ensure continued access to security updates. This is crucial for maintaining robust defenses to protect your data and systems.
Although we are approximately a year away from this deadline, there are actions you should consider taking now:
- Upgrade to Windows 11: If your computer is eligible for the upgrade, it is strongly advised to move from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
- Check Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Version: If your computer indicates that it cannot upgrade to Windows 11, verify the version of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) currently in use. If you are running TPM 2.0, you most likely can rebuild the machine with Windows 11.
- Plan for Future Needs: If your computer cannot upgrade to Windows 11 and your TPM version is less than 2.0, it may be necessary to budget for a new machine or consider purchasing Windows 10 Extended Security Updates.
